Villa Arson

Established on a site overlooking the city of Nice, Villa Arson invites both to discover a “monument of the XXth century” (a brutalist architecture signed by Michel Marot, composed around gardens, terraces and patios) and to live an “experience of art” depending on the exhibitions programed.

Villa Arson aims at emphasizing the relationships between teaching, creation, research and transmission through artistic programing. The exhibitions come from projects led internally by the teachers, the resident artists, but also with exterior structures, national or international (art schools, art centers, community networks…) in order to highlight exchanges and collaborations.

In parallel with its residence/research program connected to the 5/7 post-degree, Villa Arson welcomes two artists in residence per year. The artists stay on the premises for a period of approximately three months, they have an individual studio and a grant of approximately 5000 Euros paid by the DRAC Provence Alpes-Côte d’Azur. Applications are not possible. The artists are chosen by the director of the establishment center based on projects to be developed on site in the scope of the artistic or pedagogical program.

Finally, Villa Arson strated a program of short residences for curators who want to work on writing and preparing exhibition projects. They can thus enjoy a complementary studio and the library collection to complete their research. Their travel expanses to Nice are taken over. The curators invited can thus meet young artists from Villa Arson.
