The Centre de la photographie de Mougins is an institution dedicated to the still and moving image, open to all forms of photographic modernity. Its mission: to support creation and artists through production, exhibition, publishing and hosting in residence.
The Centre de la photographie, a municipal department, participates in the cultural and tourism policy of the city of Mougins and aims to ensure regional influence and international communication.
Its mission: to support the creation and experimentation of artists, whether they are French or foreign, emerging or established. This support takes the form of production, exhibition, publishing, and hospitality in residence.
Covering 330 square metres of useful space, the building is divided into three levels, housing reception and information areas, as well as exhibition and meeting spaces. Other locations, also located in the village of Mougins, fulfil the complementary functions necessary for the proper functioning of the Photography Centre: administration, storage, artist residences, educational workshops, documentation centre.
Being in touch with reality by choosing powerful current subjects, respecting the criteria of parity, by assigning due place to women’s photography, in a state of constant vigilance, on the lookout for other expressions outside Europe, is the only rule governing the choice of programming.
This appetite, an ambition, requires a sustained implementation of measures and actions aimed at disseminating contemporary art.
