André Villers, Une Vie en Images (République Tchèque, France, 2018, 62min, VF avec sous-titres anglais)

This documentary film, written and directed by Marketa Tomanova, traces the life of André Villers in images. He takes photos, develops them, enlarges them, assembles collages, cutouts, photograms, tears, rips, staples, cuts, glues, and reassembles…

André Villers meets Pablo Picasso, with whom he takes numerous photographs and, together with Jacques Prévert, produces the book “Diurnes.” He goes on to meet some of the greatest artists of the 20th century, including Marc Chagall, Salvador Dali, Federico Fellini, Serge Gainsbourg, Charles Aznavour, and Michel Butor, one of his closest friends.
André Villers constantly experimented in his prolific work, which explored the very foundations of photography.
